JOB PURPOSE:
As a member of Fix Auto’s production team, the lead detailer plays a key role in delivering a flawless final product back to the customer.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The lead detailer is responsible for supporting the detail team to thoroughly wash the outside of vehicles after drop off and before mapping occurs. They will also thoroughly clean the vehicles after repairs are completed with the goal to return the vehicle to the customer cleaner than when it was dropped off. The lead detailer supports the shop by empty garbage cans, cutting up cardboard, driving customers to and from their homes and assisting in any other way management sees fit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Washbay Checklist
- Open all doors of vehicle
- Blow out entire vehicle, including vents, to remove surface dust
- Remove floor mats
- Vacuum interior of vehicle and trunk compartment
- Wipe down dash, inside of doors, seats, and door jambs
- Clean interior windows if needed
- Wipe exterior windows with steel wool to remove overspray
- Wash exterior of car and rubber floor mats
- Squeegee windows dry and blow off painted panels
- In Winter, wipe door jambs dry and spray lock de-icer
- Move vehicle to delivery bay and give keys to applicable estimator
Miscellaneous Duties
- Shuttling customers to and from their homes
- On occasion, driving to various vendors to complete production tasks
- General shop clean-up such as taking out garbage, and sanitizing common touch point
- NOTE: Garbage goes out Monday and Thursday mornings, cardboard goes out Wednesday mornings
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Employees may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment
- Employees may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise
- Employees may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting
- Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
- Overtime as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
High School Diploma (required)
EXPERIENCE
Cleaning and detailing vehicles
Working in the auto body industry
Class 5 drivers license with a clear driving abstract (required)
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Ability to thoroughly sanitize and detail vehicles
Ability to work in a collaborative environment with a close-knit team
A valid class 5 drivers license is required
