Facilities Services at the Vancouver campus is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of SFU’s downtown facilities, including Harbour Centre. The team ensures spaces are safe, functional, and responsive to the needs of academic, administrative, and external users. Core services include building operations and maintenance, project management, service coordination, and client support for the campus community. The team contributes to maintaining high-quality teaching and learning environments and supporting initiatives to improve space utilization and user experience. The team culture is collaborative, service-oriented, and solutions-focused, with a strong emphasis on responsiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
This project management role, which will work collaboratively with Project Manager II, will primarily focus on the construction process for assigned capital and minor renovation projects at all stages of the project life cycle.
The ideal candidate is proactive and accountable, possesses a strong technical understanding of building construction and systems, and is well-versed in project management methodologies. They will have broad experience managing renovations and multi-system renewals within occupied buildings. This individual will excel in communication and problem-solving and be capable of effectively collaborating with professional consultants, contractors and various stakeholders. In addition, the ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. They demonstrate strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience delivering and supporting projects—tracking schedules, monitoring deliverables, and maintaining documentation—is essential. The candidate is proactive, solutions-focused, and able to identify and address risks effectively. Familiarity with facilities, space planning, or operational environments is an asset. They are adaptable, collaborative, and able to navigate changing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service, accountability, and project delivery.
