Job Summary
The Packager-Technician plays a critical role in the efficient and compliant operation of pharmaceutical packaging lines. This hybrid role combines hands-on packaging duties with technical support responsibilities, including line monitoring, troubleshooting, and changeover. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety in a regulated environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Packaging Operations
- Operate and monitor automated and semi-automated packaging equipment (bottles, tubes, sachets, labeling, cartoning, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the packaging area in accordance with SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Perform in-process checks to ensure packaging quality and compliance with GMP standards.
- Accurately complete batch documentation and logbooks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Support & Equipment Setup
- Assist with line changeovers and equipment set up for different product formats.
- Load product specific recipes into HMI systems and verify correct parameters.
- Perform metal detector, checkweigher, and vision system challenges and ensure proper functioning of inspection systems.
- Support minor mechanical adjustments and troubleshooting during production runs.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to escalate and resolve equipment issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and use/apply LEAN tools and principles.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all GMP, SOP, and safety protocols.
- Participate in routine audits and inspections.
- Report deviations, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns promptly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- College diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in a mechanical or manufacturing field is an asset.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or food packaging operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools.
- Experience with HMI interfaces and vision systems is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast-paced, cleanroom environment.
- Standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 kg.
- Shift work required (day, evening, or weekend shifts).
