Purpose of the role

  • This role drives the success of the on-staff appraiser team by leading, coaching, and empowering them to deliver valuation reports that are accurate, timely, and fully compliant. It ensures appraisal standards are applied consistently, while fostering continuous learning and professional growth. Acting as a vital connector between appraisers, operations, technology, and leadership, this role aligns daily execution with strategic priorities to maximize client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • By managing appraisal volumes, monitoring turnaround times (TAT), maintaining rigorous quality standards, and overseeing profit and loss, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality appraisal services that strengthen both client trust and organizational success.

Areas of ownership

  • Building, coaching, and retaining a high-performing team of staff appraisers through clear metrics, scorecards, and professional development plans.
  • Developing staff appraisers through the creation of personalized career paths that support growth and succession readiness.
  • Ensuring the team meets or exceeds turnaround time and quality score targets.
  • Partnering with quality review teams to identify trends, deliver targeted training, and ensure compliance.
  • Driving productivity and revenue targets for staff appraisers while monitoring pricing models to remain competitive and profitable.
  • Optimizing coverage areas to balance workload, improve efficiency, and expand market reach.
  • Tracking financial performance by appraiser (e.g., revenue per file, margin contribution) and implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between staff appraisers, internal operations, and leadership, and providing regular updates on capacity, financial results, and workflow challenges.
  • Strengthening collaboration with client service and technology teams to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Identifying opportunities to digitize and streamline appraisal workflows, leading pilot programs for new products or technologies.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs, enhance client experience, and support the evolution of the “appraiser of the future” through advanced tools, data analytics, and modern practices.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Team Management - At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience, driving team performance, success and growth.
  • Customer Obsessed – You understand our appraisers and clients, anticipate their needs and strive to exceed expectations

  • Data-Driven – You analyze information to identify trends, solve problems and improve processes

  • Technology - You drive the adoption of new systems and are very comfortable working with Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Education - Appraisal Designation (EA, DAR, CRA) is a strong asset
