Range of Pay: Group 13 - $36.79 to $45.02 per hour

The start date will follow the selection process. This position is eligible to work remotely on a part-time basis (Note: Must be able to report to a City of Greater Sudbury work location on short notice).

Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of the Innovation Co-ordinator.

  • Provide advice and consultation on the selection, design and implementation of new information technology solutions across the Department.
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend and implement plans to capture various field data and maximize the use of existing data and information.
  • Participate in technical innovation, including the writing of Requests for Proposals, project planning, project management and post implementation support.
  • Identify opportunities for increasing overall efficiency and effectiveness within the Department.
  • Identify business requirements and review recommendations with Information Technology on the preferred technology-based solutions. Prepare reports and recommendations based on a collaborative decision-making process.
  • Act as a liaison throughout the Department and with external partner agencies, vendors, service providers and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate and provide advice related to using data effectively to monitor and report on a variety of activities including facility and system regulatory and performance management and business best-practice.
  • Act as a Department resource providing ongoing support on adopted systems and provide assistance with software and hardware configuration as it applies to front-end requirements. Deliver training sessions within on new and existing technology and software.
  • Conduct data verification and data analysis to ensure consistency and integrity of information drawing upon numerous data sources including mobile data collection.
  • Mine available data from spreadsheets and developed databases (including writing queries and blending data from multiple sources) and preparing accurate reports.
  • Develop and implement business performance systems including ongoing monitoring of organisational, facilities, and system performance.
  • Prepare business specifications and reporting requirements for new applications.
  • Support the Department’s benchmarking activities as directed.
  • Contribute to the Department’s knowledge management initiative by providing detailed process documentation related to business processes, roles, responsibilities and daily activities of the position.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related discipline from a recognized University with Canadian accreditation.
  • Over two and one half (2½) years up to and including five (5) years of progressive experience, related to best-practice business methods, or organizational performance management, project management.
  • Experience working with Public Works data considered an asset.
  • Experience in a Municipal government setting an asset.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise GIS software (ESRI), including database structures, mapping tools, business intelligence tools and data manipulation tools are considered an asset.
  • Function independently.
  • Manage concurrent complex projects.
  • Test, interpret and analyse data.
  • Identify, investigate and propose solutions to problems.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Write reports and business documents.
  • Demonstrated ability and excellent knowledge of computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g. file maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet applications, presentation software, information input and retrieval of databases). Able to create reports by bringing information together from various sources.
  • Generate support for technological initiatives.
  • Train and coach staff.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal skills highly desirable; written skills an asset.
  • Travel to multiple work sites will be required.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.

Development opportunity range of pay: $34.10 to $43.02 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.
