About the Role
As an Accountant under our Business Services Group, you will be responsible to maintain proper ledgers, registers, accounts, journals as well as similar financial records. In this role, you will regularly collaborate with members of Brookfield’s Business Services Group Accounting team and support the Senior Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for a portfolio of companies;
- Determine and prepare timely and accurate general journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting;
- Analyze and prepare general ledger accounting reconciliations;
- Investigation/analysis of intercompany balances/chargeback issues;
- Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance analyses;
- Analyze and prepare financial reporting packages
- Account for PPE additions and disposals and maintain CWIP and fixed asset schedules;
- Prepare and collaborate on budget and forecast inputs;
- Support year-end audit procedures;
- Research and analyze accounting treatment for routine transactions;
- Maintain financial reporting process documentation;
- Propose, design and implement process improvements.
- Execute internal control procedures
Knowledge and Experience Required

2+ years experience performing full-cycle accounting
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent in relevant work experience;
-
CPA designation or scheduled to take the CFE within the next 12 months
-
Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines, particularly around month and quarter end close;
-
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize competing responsibilities while working in a very fast paced, dynamic, high volume team environment;
-
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply sound professional judgment under pressure;
-
Strong communication skills are required;
-
Flexibility to work additional hours when needed at quarter end or during peak periods;
-
Experience with Financial Systems such IFS, Blackline, IT2, OneStream or similar systems will be desired;
-
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and US GAAP is an asset);
-
Strong MS Excel skills (including vlookup and pivot tables) with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Experience in working in a public listed companies (in US or Canada) will be considered an asset.
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
