About the role
The opportunity is for an initial office-based and then on-site Project Director for a brownfield/live Combustion Turbine Generation Project in Holyrood, NL. The role includes managing and overseeing the entirety of the project including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and all Project Services from the design to final completion stages of the project.
Opportunity is for a term position for the current length of the project May 2026 to approximately May of 2031, with the option for extension or relocation to a future project site.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop & execute the overall Program Management Plan for the project.
- Develop & execute an overall governance plan for the project.
- Develop & execute the communication plans for the project.
- Oversee the engineering phase of all project components alongside the Engineering Manager.
- Oversee the procurement requirements of the project alongside the Procurement Manager.
- Oversee and manage all project services including but not limited to project controls & scheduling, cost management, risk management, and document control.
- Oversee all construction requirements of the project alongside the Construction Manager.
- Integrate all disciplines and departments of the project to develop a collaborative culture.
- Develop strong relationships with the client to ensure communication is provided to all project team members.
- Present multiple reports to the client and Stantec management throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Integrate with all external project stakeholders as required including but not limited to government, utility providers, and the public.
Your Capabilities & Experience
- Experience as a Project Director and/or Program Manager for Generation, major Substation, and/or similar complex industrial/utility type projects.
- Experience in overseeing the engineering portion of similar type projects.
- Experience in overseeing the procurement portion of similar type projects.
- Experience in managing all project services of similar type projects (i.e. project controls & scheduling, cost management, risk management, and document control).
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Exceptional organization and project strategy skills.
- Experience in highly fast paced environments and bringing multiple departments and personnel together to develop a collaborative and integrative team culture.
- Understanding cash flow projections and aligning monthly expenditures to meet budget requirements.
- Executing presentations for large amounts of resources including clients, personnel, management, public, etc.
Education and Credentials
- Minimum of 15 years of Program Management type experience with brownfield/live Generation or similar projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
- Or bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Project Management from an accredited institution considered an asset.
- Certified Scrum Master is considered an asset.
- PMI Risk Management Professional or similar is considered an asset.
Location
- Preference given to local candidates in the Northeast Avalon, NL region.
- Open to candidates that require to move to project location.
- Open to candidates that require subsistence and travel.
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
