The Role

We are currently searching for a General Accountant to support the Controller in all general accounting duties that are required for day-to-day accounting operations of the CANA Group of Companies. Key accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Vendor set up, vendor maintenance and WCB exception reporting,

  • Enter AP invoices and manage vendors payments,

  • Upload weekly Credit Card, review and post of credit card expenses and reconcile at the end of the month.

  • Review employee expenses and process into the accounting system

  • Daily cash receipts and cash clearing, scheduled bank runs, weekly cash reports, monitoring cash balances and monthly bank reconciliation

  • Complete monthly/quarterly/annual GST and other government reporting

  • Performs Depreciation Run, Asset set up and Disposal, and asset reconciliation

  • Prepare AR invoices

  • Perform month-end and year-end financial close processes, which includes monthly accruals, general ledger account reconciliation, intercompany balance reconciliation, and posting journal entries.

  • Prepare monthly working papers and analyze General ledger account balances

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly internal management reports

  • Assist in year end audits and tax file preparation.

  • Support with adhoc reports, audits, projects, and other duties, as required.

  • Can handle reception back up duties (lunch and break coverages).

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Good understanding of accounting standards.

  • 3-5 years full cycle accounting experience

  • A Post-secondary degree in Accounting

  • Self-motivated, team player, strong analytical skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills and experience in an ERP environment.

  • Appetite for creating efficiencies and improvements.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in the Construction, Engineering, or Property Development industries

  • Experience with Viewpoint Vista software
