At Port443, we work together, laugh together, and, yes, eat a lot of donuts together. (Seriously, check out our Instagram—it’s basically a food blog at this point!). Lunchtime often turns into a mini Mario Kart tournament. We’re pretty competitive 🎮. Our products—My Music Staff, TutorBird, and AthletaDesk—are always evolving, so there’s never a dull moment around here. Every day, we connect with thousands of users worldwide, and if you ask them what they love most about us, they’ll tell you it’s because we listen. About You
You’re the kind of person who gets a little thrill from a perfectly reconciled account and a well-stocked snack cupboard. You love creating order out of chaos—whether that’s balancing the books, keeping payroll on track, or making sure the office plants don’t stage a revolt.
You’re detail-oriented but approachable, organized but flexible. You can switch from crunching numbers to making sure the office coffee never runs out without breaking a sweat. You thrive on variety—finance one minute, fun the next.
What You Bring
- Experience in finance/accounting roles.
- Education in finance, accounting, or business administration.
- Strong QuickBooks Desktop skills.
- Payroll and tax compliance experience.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bonus points for experience with Rise or similar payroll systems.
What You’ll Do:
Finance & Accounting
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll (because everyone loves payday! 💸) and manage payroll tax forms.
- Keep our accounting records accurate and up to date in QuickBooks.
- Ensure vendors are paid on time and accounts are reconciled monthly.
- Prepare and file tax returns, remittances, and compliance docs (GST/HST, EHT).
- Handle T4s, financial reports, and explain any notable changes.
- Manage PayPal balances, Stripe transactions, and bank accounts.
- Collaborate with external accountants for filings and audits.
- Review insurance coverage and manage renewals.
HR Administration
- Maintain employee records and manage onboarding/offboarding.
- Administer benefits programs and liaise with providers.
- Keep HR policies and the employee handbook current.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Office Management
- Keep the office running smoothly—supplies, snacks, and coffee included.
- Manage relationships with landlords, janitorial staff, and contractors.
- Water the plants (they’re part of the team too! 🪴).
Who You’ll Be Working With:
Dan is our founder and the one making sure all the moving pieces actually work together. He spends his days balancing operations and technical projects, making sure ideas don’t just sound good — they actually get built and delivered. And when he’s not keeping the team on track, he’s busy 3D-printing pieces for his ever-growing model train empire 🚂.
Dasa is our big-picture thinker, always chasing the next idea (and usually coming up with three more along the way). She’s the one steering the vision for where we’re headed, while also leading Marketing and Sales to spread the word. Outside of work, she loves baking up beautiful desserts (and yes, she fully supports cake for breakfast 🍰).
Shelley has been the wizard behind the curtain keeping our finances, HR, and office running smoothly. She’s the one who’s kept everything organized and everyone looked after, whether it’s making sure payroll goes out on time or that we never run out of coffee. These days, she’s stepping back from the day-to-day but still lending her expertise to train the team and help out when we need her most. Outside of work, Shelley is a proud cat mom — and yes, her cat absolutely knows who’s really in charge 😻.
