Application Engineer
About the role
Our client, a well-established and leading automotive manufacturing company in the GTA, is seeking an Applications Engineer to join their engineering team. This role involves supporting product development, design release, and new program launches. It is ideal for someone with strong automotive product engineering experience, especially with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
Work Setting: On Site Position Type: Full time Location Details: north of Toronto
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering At least 3+ years of Tier 1 automotive product development and launch experience (post-graduation) Hands-on experience working with mechanisms, structures, or electro-mechanical products Strong, working knowledge of APQP, FMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, and PPAP protocols Working knowledge of manufacturing environments featuring stamping, moulding, assembly, or welding processes Valid passport and the ability to travel as required to support customer locations
RESPONSIBILITIES Support new program launches from a product engineering perspective Review product designs for feasibility and manufacturability, and participate in design reviews to help resolve open design issues Review drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, Design Verification, FMEA, and control plans Support design release activities and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering on manufacturability initiatives Assist Quality and Manufacturing teams with root cause analysis and corrective actions Support warranty reduction and product cost reduction projects Ensure products meet customer, quality, and launch requirements while participating in continuous improvement
