Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Island Health ( Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Tobacco Prevention and Control or Supervisor Health Protection within the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) and working under the direct oversight of a Tobacco Enforcement Officer/Reduction Coordinator or Environmental Health Officer, the Minor Test Shopper participates in conducting administrative checks on retail outlets across Vancouver Island to monitor compliance with tobacco legislation limiting the supply of tobacco products to persons under the age of 19 years and/or tanning facility legislation and bylaws restricting the use of UV tanning equipment to persons under the age of 18 years.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience This employment opportunity is available only to applicants between the ages of 14 and 17 years with a minimum grade 8 education. Applicants must have parental consent and require valid BC identification (drivers licence, BC ID card or passport).

- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to document information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to be punctual and reliable.
