About the role

As the Membership Sales Team Leader, you will lead, model, and drive effective sales practices to achieve membership targets, new member sales, tour conversions, member satisfaction, and member retention. With a focus on enhancing the overall member experience, you will lead by example through the direct delivery of service and sales. A skilled coach and mentor, you will assist the Manager, Membership Growth and Experience with onboarding, training, supervision, and mentorship of staff to develop great sales champions and ambassadors of exemplary service.

Location: Peter Gilgan Family YMCA, 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville

Work Schedule: Full time position, 35 hours a week, Sunday-Thursday, variety of shifts, working mostly evening shifts to provide leadership and excellent service delivery during peak membership attendance times.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a sales culture that achieves membership growth and annual sales targets
  • Work alongside the Manager, Membership Growth and Experience to train, coach and mentor membership sales staff on best practices and quality service delivery
  • Use membership data and trends to present ideas and initiatives that drive membership growth
  • Increase prospect identification, make follow-up phone calls, and convert prospects and tours into memberships
  • Adapt strategies to continuously improve sales promotion
  • Assist with training membership sales and services staff on the YMCA Canada’s “Invitation To Join” and assess ongoing performance of staff using YMCA Behaviour Grids
  • Role model service excellence and demonstrate leadership through direct service delivery
  • Participate in the Service Leader rotation
  • Exemplify our YMCA values and adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policy

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven, professional sales experience, preferably within a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising, coaching, and leading a team
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, employers, staff, and volunteers
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Desirable Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in related field
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • YMCA experience
  • Registration software experience (Active Net)
