About The Role Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Regular Full-time Manager, Production to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team.
In this role, you will provide direction, leadership, and oversight for production and distribution operations across British Columbia and Yukon. You will work closely with supervisors, team members, and cross-functional partners to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant operations that meet or exceed regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
You will play a key role in driving positive change and innovation, fostering a culture of quality, excellence, and continuous improvement, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. This position is integral to shaping the future of BCY operations and ensuring we continue to deliver safe, reliable products and services to the communities we serve.
Formula for Success
- Leads a team of supervisors to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant production and distribution operations across BCY, aligned with regulatory requirements and corporate objectives.
- Guides and mentors direct reports and extended teams toward a culture of quality, excellence, and continuous improvement, fostering an inclusive environment where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered.
- Drives positive change and innovation across the BCY supply chain, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and service delivery.
- Collaborates closely with employees, supervisors, the Associate Director, and the Operational Excellence (OPEX) team to develop and implement strategies, systems, and business processes that strengthen and future-proof operations in BCY and beyond.
- Partners with cross-functional departments to ensure operational goals and performance metrics are consistently met or exceeded.
- Manages the approved budget for Production and Distribution, ensuring responsible and strategic stewardship of resources.
Desired Education And Skills
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution; a university degree in science, engineering, or a technical field is preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for positive leadership, with either a strong foundation or clear potential to grow into a transformational people leader.
- Experience in an advanced production or manufacturing environment is preferred; exposure to GMP or Quality Assurance systems is an asset.
- Strong understanding of technical processes and systems thinking, with the ability to grasp complex interdependencies across production, distribution, and business operations.
- Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO, GMP, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Deep commitment to continuous improvement and a solid understanding of the philosophy and long-term value behind operational excellence.
- A steadfast belief in quality, excellence, and the development of sustainable solutions that deliver lasting value to the organization and its stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine “people-first” mindset and a collaborative “we before me” leadership style.
- Strong digital literacy, including advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and a working knowledge of scripting, automation tools, or macro development; a natural comfort with technology and data is highly valued.
- High level of personal accountability, resilience, and a service-oriented approach to leadership.
- A key partner to supervisors, peers, and leadership in driving BCY operations to the next level, building on strengths while shaping a future-ready, high-performing team.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
