About the role
Position Overview
Proctor 2 provides supports to individuals needing to enhance their daily living skills in order to maintain themselves in the community. Specific goals and activities are identified by the client and the Primary Health Care Mental Health Clinician/Community Mental Health Worker.
The Proctor demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/site/program.
Experience
- One year of volunteer/work experience with individuals having special needs.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license may is required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Understanding of client empowerment.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Understanding of the issues faced by individuals experiencing a mental illness.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to transport clients to medical and community appointments.
- Ability to transport and assist clients with grocery shopping and banking.
Physical Requirements
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
- Ability to work shift work and weekends.
- Requires access to a reliable vehicle.
- May be required to travel.
