Closing Date Job Summary Are you passionate about driving equitable and strategic compensation practices? We’re seeking a Compensation & Job Evaluation Consultant to join our team, reporting to the Manager, Compensation & Job Evaluation. In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as a subject matter expert in compensation program delivery and job evaluation across both Union and Non-Union environments.
You’ll collaborate closely with Labour Relations to support collective bargaining, provide expert analysis on complex roles and organizational structures, and ensure alignment with legislative requirements, corporate policies, and internal equity principles. Success in this role requires strong Excel and project management skills , as you’ll lead and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously—balancing strategic priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations with precision and professionalism.
Duties and Responsibilities Labour Relations & Bargaining Support
- Prepare compensation and job evaluation data, cost estimates, and position comparisons to support collective bargaining.
- Act as the technical lead during union-management consultations and negotiations.
- Advise on compensation-related grievances and assist in preparing employer responses.
Compensation Program Delivery & Projects
- Define project goals, scope, and deliverables; develop project plans and allocate resources.
- Lead the design, evaluation, and implementation of compensation programs aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide senior-level guidance on job evaluations and reclassifications.
- Support business units with job creation, redesign, and pay recommendations.
Advanced Analytics & Modelling
- Develop complex compensation models and cost-impact analyses for reorganizations and bargaining.
- Analyze data trends to identify risks and opportunities in workforce composition and pay structures.
- Create custom tools and templates for internal reporting and leadership briefings.
Subject Matter Expertise & Advisory
- Provide expert advice on job evaluation, compensation, and pay equity.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, balancing technical frameworks with operational needs.
- Present recommendations at senior-level forums to support informed decision-making.
Process Improvement & Research
- Lead or contribute to initiatives that modernize job architecture and streamline compensation processes.
- Research industry best practices and legislative changes to inform policy updates.
- Maintain tools, templates, and documentation to ensure consistency in compensation practices.
Skills And Qualifications
- 5 plus years of relevant experience in Compensation or job evaluation
- Practical knowledge and application of Pay Equity principles and legislation.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (Human Resources, Business, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to initiate, co-ordinate and oversee the implementation of projects while working collaboratively with other team members.
- Experience in developing and implementing Compensation related projects and experience with Compensation and trends in Total Rewards.
- Advanced analytical, research, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to identify needs, options, opportunities for change/improvement and solutions.
- Extensive experience establishing partnerships and providing and enhancing customer service, including understanding.
- Compensation Certified professional (CCP) considered an asset.
- Knowledge of employment and related legislation such as the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, Collective Agreements and human resource policies and practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using a variety of software packages, including Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, SuccessFactors and SAP.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 49.16 - $ 65.54
Hours of Work: 35
Work Location: Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga - this is a hybrid contract and will require you to work three days in office.
