Position Description

Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Conduct thorough consultations, screenings, and comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to evaluate a child's current cognitive, academic, and social-emotional functioning
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing assessment findings and providing relevant recommendations
  • Deliver clear and informative feedback to families and clinic teams regarding assessment results and recommendations
  • Provide consultation services to school teams and other health and educational professionals, promoting collaboration and comprehensive support for the child
  • Enhance the team's ability to address the psychosocial needs of both the child and their family by complementing and expanding existing services
  • Provide intervention for families and patients managing uncertainty in medical diagnosis and symptoms and bridging support during the diagnostic and treatment process
  • Work independently and collaboratively as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Participate in clinical research, contribute to program development initiatives, and engage in quality improvement projects
  • Provide supervision and mentorships to trainees

Here's What You'll Need

  • Ph.D. in Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program or equivalent
  • Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
  • Strong preference given to candidates who have competency in health psychology, with experience supporting children and families managing chronic medical conditions
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in psychological assessment and diagnosis of children aged 6-18, with developmental and medical conditions. Common queries include Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, anxiety, and mood disorders
  • Proficiency in interviewing and educating families
  • Commitment to evidence-based care and practice
  • Initiative and passion to integrate research findings into clinical practice
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Employment Type

  • 0.4 FTE ( 15 hrs/week, 2 days per week), 6-month contract, on site
