Job Posting: Accountant V (CPA) Location: Toronto, ON (downtown) Duration: July 14, 2026 – October 15, 2027 (extension/conversion possible) Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pay Rate:$41.00/hour + 4% vacation pay Overtime: Occasional About the Role We are seeking a highly technical Accountant V (Specialized Finance Manager) to join the Chief Accountant’s Department supporting the US Retail segment and enterprise-wide accounting policy advisory. This is a dynamic opportunity where no two days are the same—combining day-to-day financial reporting with complex accounting research and project-based work. You will play a key role in interpreting and applying IFRS standards, supporting regulatory reporting, and serving as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across finance, risk, and business units. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary Accounting Policy & Advisory (APA) contact for US Retail segment and Expected Credit Losses (ECL) Provide technical accounting guidance under IFRS on complex issues (financial instruments, revenue, operating segments) Conduct accounting research, benchmarking, and prepare technical memos and presentations Support preparation of external financial disclosures, including: MD&A Financial statements & notes Supplemental Financial Information Monitor and implement new accounting standards and policy updates Prepare materials for audit committee reporting Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Investor Relations, Tax, etc.) Translate complex accounting topics into clear, actionable insights Contribute to process improvements and support ongoing projects Qualifications Must-Have: CPA, CA designation 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience Strong expertise in IFRS accounting standards and technical research Experience with financial statements and external reporting Proven ability to manage stakeholders and deliver under tight deadlines Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Preferred: Background in Big 4 accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) Experience with Expected Credit Loss (ECL) Exposure to banking or financial services environments Familiarity with US GAAP (asset) Key Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building skills
