About the role

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques. Mountain driving expertise. Professionalism in customer service. Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Dangerous goods occurrence reports. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trans-border documentation. Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle. Our contractors are fully equipped to provide services ranging from concrete cutting & coring to structural imaging and reinforcement. We are even capable of performing helicopter-assisted construction for particularly large jobs.

Walser Contracting Ltd. was founded over eight years ago by owner Michael Podolak. Originally from Kleinwalsertal, Austria, Michael brings to each job the dedication and perfectionism learned through his previous life experiences. He spent 12 years in the Austrian Army and was part of an elite branch within the army that accepted only a few people from each incoming class. During that time, he served on loan to the United Nations for six years, working in several countries including Yugoslavia, Iraq, Lebanon, and Afghanistan.

After serving in the army, Michael enjoyed a career in helicopter flying. Dedicated to excellence in all things, he quickly set records for efficiency and skill within the profession. Accuracy and reliability are qualities highly valued within the profession of helicopter flying and these same attributes transfer smoothly into construction and contracting.
