About the role

POSTING TYPE: Internal POSITION TYPE: Term, until return of incumbents HOURS OF WORK: Part-time **SCHEDULES:**10 to 20 hours per week, as per rotation schedule

DEPARTMENT****Recreation and Culture

HOURLY RATE$32.55 per hour, Schedule “B” Outside Employees, Aquatics

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

  • National Lifeguard Award – Pool
  • Standard First Aid with CPR “C”
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
  • Aquafit Instructor
  • AED Certification

EXPERIENCE

  • Sound knowledge and/or experience in lifeguarding/instruction duties and teaching methods/group leadership techniques with emphasis on water safety instruction and aquatic skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience in performing pool operation and maintenance

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Sound knowledge of theory and practice, lifeguarding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid
  • Working knowledge of Pool Chemistry
  • Ability to prepare facility related records and reports
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Initiative, sound judgement, positive and responsive when dealing with the public, user groups and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Inquisitive and ability to ask questions
  • Effective listener
  • Police Information Check
