About the role

Job Description

We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated Recreation Aide to join our Long-Term Care team, supporting our Memory Care Unit.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful engagement. The successful candidate must be available to work day shifts, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering recreational programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents in long-term care.
  • Encourage participation and promote social interaction and physical activity.
  • Set up and tidy activity spaces and equipment before and after programs.
  • Supervise and support residents during activities, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to support individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of participation and resident observations.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to resident needs during programs.

Education Requirement:

  • Certificate or qualification in Recreation or Social Work.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in recreation or social services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage seniors and individuals with cognitive impairments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must be available to work day shifts and weekends.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Successful completion of a Police Check.
  • Up-to-date Tuberculosis (TB) testing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents as needed during activities.
  • Capability to lift and move recreation equipment safely.
