About the role

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

This state-of-the-art facility will be the first of its kind in Canada and is being built with the goal of becoming the foremost battery hub in North America. We are seeking a highly skilled Factory Automation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for project management related to equipment installation, PSR and Performance stabilization through control logic and mechanical design improvements. This role also requires an understanding of factory automation equipment and manufacturing production system (CIM/MCS).

Responsibilities:

  • Installation schedule management, maintenance, and performance enhancement of FA equipment.
  • Install, evaluate and maintain various logistics automation equipment such as AS/RS, stocker crane, AGV, and conveyor system.
  • Root cause improvement and troubleshooting of FA equipment.
  • Stabilization of automation systems to ensure continuous and efficient battery production operation.
  • Planning PM and equipment inspection schedules, and directing their execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate.
  • Conduct advanced analysis and optimization of airflow within Cleanrooms, Dry rooms, and Mini-environments.
  • Prepare and participate daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with other teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Manufacturing engineering is preferred)
  • MS Office tool-based report writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets.
  • Computational Skills, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and statistical knowledge.
  • Knowledge and Experience in the installation and maintenance of Logistic Automation Equipment (AS/RS, Stocker crane, AGV, Conveyor system) are preferred.
  • 3 or more years of manufacturing industrial experience (Especially, lithium-ion batteries industry).
  • Engineering certificates preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electricity/electronics/mechanics.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Science preferred.
  • Over 3years of experience in FA equipment or Manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience of trouble shooting or hands on experience for machine.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC.
  • Experience with Logistics Automation (Stocker, Lifter, Conveyor, Robot, AGV etc).
  • Experience with equipment expansion experience.
  • Electrical/mechanical-related certificate or domain knowledge.
