Shop & Trades Helper (Canada Summer Jobs – 8 Week Position)

Location: Fergus and surrounding area
Wage: $18/hour
Duration: June 15th – August 10th, 2026 (8 weeks)

Responsibilities:

• Assist journeyperson electricians with installations, repairs, and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Perform basic electrical tasks such as running wires, installing fixtures, and troubleshooting.
• Support fire alarm system installations, inspections, and maintenance.
• Assist with basic HVAC-related work and system support.
• Help maintain organization and cleanliness in the shop and yard, including material handling and inventory.
• Load, unload, and prepare tools, equipment, and materials for job sites.
• Yard and lawn maintenance as required
• Ensure job sites, shop, and yard are clean, safe, and efficient at all times.
• Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations.
• Support team members with additional tasks as required.
• Taking photos and video while on the job site and in the shop for marketing purposes.

Qualifications:

• Eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program.
• Interest in pursuing a career in the electrical trade.
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems is an asset (but not required).
• Willingness to assist with shop, yard, fire alarm, and HVAC-related support tasks.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and climb a ladder
