About the role
This position is part of our Energy Storage Solutions team (ESS) and a key player in developing solutions, with the highest value proposition for energy storage, micro grid management and power distribution projects, starting from presales to commissioning activities. The position requires engagement in multiple aspects of Energy Storage Systems from technology concepts and overall system architecture and applications to integration with the customer system overarching electrical, electrochemical, and automation areas.
This position will be also responsible for the Engineering To Order (ETO) projects managements from the order booking to the commissioning with respect to the usual KPI: Quality, Need Coverage, Performance, Delay and Cost. The position is mainly focused on North America market and requires knowledge of North America regulations and their impact on products, systems and installations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Act as the technical expert member of Energy Storage Solutions team for North America
- Be the technical liaison between the local team, Global R&D, and Engineering organization
- Provide technical support (remotely or at the customer site) for requests coming from the customer at every stage of the project
- Actively participate in the evaluation of technical feasibility, risks and challenges of projects and propose solutions as per the established procedures and standards
- Analyze data/interpret available power system studies, propose and co-ordinate complementary studies, conduct site audits to define and develop successful business solutions.
- Professionally work on the system integration and design of energy storage and microgrids including appropriate analysis: sizing, architecture, standards, risks, etc.
- Define and validate the operating modes for on grid services and microgrid management including power generation (individual or collective) from diesel generator, solar plant or other renewables energies sources
- Responsible for the projects and equipment technical specifications and maintain all relevant project documentation
- Perform power system engineering analysis of industrial, commercial, and distribution utility electric power systems in the areas of coordination of protection, short-circuit calculation, arc flash hazard analysis, power flow, ground grid, and Harmonics
- Design single line diagrams, schematics, wiring tables, layouts
- Prepare technical documentation.
- Develop test plans for the complete power system, conduct the tests, prepare test reports and present them to the team/management.
- Ensure the Engineering To Order (ETO) projects management:
- T&C and MSA conformity with internal policy (with the support of the legal Dept.).
- Invoicing according to the defined milestones.
- Planning, scheduling and resources allocation.
- Design according to the need coverage & the cost as per the commercial proposal.
- Subcontractors’ management.
- Document package delivery.
- Ensure the knowledge transfer to the services team to ensure the commissioning and the maintenance contract.
- Guarantees management.
- Procurement forecasts and systems allocations.
- Collaborate with other departments (including Business Developer, Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Production, Services & Marketing).
- Participate in the continuous organizational improvement (IE: Drive the projects Return on Experience (ROX);
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (automation knowledge would be an additional advantage)
- P.Eng. designation or in progress eligibility is an asset
- 10 years’ experience in projects management, design and deployment (e.g., Energy storage systems, power generation, renewable energies, power distribution, power conversion, switchgear, UPS systems, static transfer switches, inverters, etc.)
- Experienced in the standards and codes related to energy storage, renewable energies and low voltage systems (products & installation levels).
- Strong technical expertise in power systems, system integration, automation and architecture
- Skilled in electrical power system studies utilizing analysis software.
- Knowledge of medium voltage installations would be an additional advantage.
- Have safety as a core value
- Excellent computer literacy. Proficient in MS Office.
- Strong English language verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical writing skills; able to clearly convey concepts in writing and prepare concise technical documentation/manuals for various power systems products, including energy storage electrical systems, static transfer switches etc.
