Job Description
Caron Equipment Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Coordinator to oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities across our heavy equipment and mining operations. The successful candidate will ensure that equipment is serviced, repaired, and maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and supporting operational efficiency.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, technical knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, and the ability to work collaboratively with mechanics, supervisors, and operations staff. The Maintenance Coordinator will be based at our Côté Mine site near Gogama, ON, working on a (4/3) four days on and 3 days off rotation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and fleet.
- Coordinate and assign maintenance tasks to shop and field mechanics.
- Track and manage work orders, parts inventory, and equipment downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and anticipate repair needs to prevent failures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with operations and project teams to align maintenance priorities.
- Manage vendor relationships for parts, tools, and contracted maintenance services.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize maintenance efficiency.
- Support a culture of safety by promoting best practices and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance coordination, supervision, or related experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy equipment.
- Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Red Seal Certification in a mechanical trade (e.g., Heavy Equipment Technician, Millwright) is an asset.
- Ability to work in a remote camp environment on a rotational schedule.
