Parks Maintenance Summer Student

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for highly motivated and energetic individuals to be involved in the delivery of parks maintenance duties at various Municipal properties from May to August 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain trucks, trailers, mowers and trimmers to maintain Municipal parks and properties.
  • Responsible for planting, weeding and watering Town maintained gardens, planter baskets, trees, shrubs and hanging baskets.
  • Maintain sports fields including grass cutting, trash removal and line painting.
  • Perform janitorial duties including sweeping and moping and sanitize all floors and stairs and clean, stock and disinfect washrooms.
  • Empty trash cans in and around municipal facilities, parks, trails, walkways and cemeteries.
  • Responds to enquiries from and/or liaises with the public, community groups, sports/user groups, and special event organizers regarding maintenance conditions and resolves complaints and/or refers complaints to appropriate individual.
  • Works as support staff for Town run special events.
  • Assists in facility set-up for meetings and events as required.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered full-time post-secondary student returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • Experience in parks, horticulture, equipment operation and/or building maintenance is considered an asset.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week starting April 27, 2026
  • Must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Must have a valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license in good standing;
  • Required to own or purchase safety footwear as a pre-condition of employment;
  • Able to submit a successful Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check as a pre-condition of employment.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.60- $19.00 (2025 rates) per hour.

Bradford West Gwillimbury is a town in south-central Ontario, in the County of Simcoe in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area on the Holland River. West Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim. The former Town of Bradford was amalgamated with portions of the former Townships of West Gwillimbury and Tecumseth to become the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury on January 1, 1991.
