GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
TO Live is seeking an experienced Controller to join the Finance team. This position is responsible for financial & business database management – including budget management, all government and City reporting and external reporting. This position will play a key role in business development ensuring TO Live’s business processes are up to date and compliant.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as lead in financial database management, providing guidance and support to all TO Live users as it relates to the accounting system.
- Maintain up to date financial reference manuals, policies and controls ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Act as lead liaison for all City financial reporting requirements, in consultation with the VP of Finance & Administration and/or Director of Finance.
- Consult with City of Toronto on insurance matters.
- Act as lead liaison for all government legislated reporting including but not limited to T3010, Stats Canada, HST.
- Act as lead financial technical assistance in the annual budget operating process including inputting into City software system.
- Oversees month end and year end process preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Integral part of the audit process and lead for task preparation and review of schedules.
- Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.
- Assists with forecasting.
- Assist in hiring process with accounting staff.
- Capital projects tracking, analysis, and reporting.
- Research and recommend business process changes for implementation.
General
- Oversee and guide accounting team to ensure accuracy and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and/or VP of Finance & Administration.
- Act as backup to the Finance Manager.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
-
Five to nine years of specific industry experience in cash management, show settlements, financial analysis, and financial statement preparation.

Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program.

In-depth knowledge of financial management software, including in-depth spreadsheet modeling.

Proficiency in Excise Tax Act law as it applies to the charitable sector.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office applications.

Excellent analytical, strong detail orientation and problem-solving skills
-
Effective communication skills.

Planning and organizing skills to coordinate conflicting deadlines and interruptions.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights, statutory holidays and weekends as required.

Lack of natural light in workplace.
-
Travel between TO Live venues as required.
