About the role

The Concurrent Disorders Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program is a new innovative partnership initiative between Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Site) and Toronto Public Health. The program relies on an inter-professional team to provide community-based assertive community treatment services (home visits, community visits) to individuals living with serious mental illness and substance use disorders in downtown Toronto.

Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include payroll, ordering and managing office supplies, managing databases, providing computer support to staff, patient registration, organizing clinic appointments, serving as a communications relay person for outreach staff, organizing educational and team events, etc. The individual may be asked to provide support and coverage to special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized secretarial program and/or equivalent experience; university degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent secretarial and administrative experience, preferably in a health care setting, is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computer software modules such as MS Word, PowerPoint (producing slides and overheads), Excel, Internet, E-mail, Library Search software, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology.
  • Excellent organizational skills and is able to prioritize duties in an environment with multiple demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, in both individual and team work.
  • Proven ability to work independently and coordinate busy workload.
  • Proven ability to meet competing priorities with short deadlines while maintaining daily operations.
  • Experience interacting with clients with mental illness would be a strong asset.
  • Previous experience recording and generating minutes of meetings.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record.
