Company Summary Established in 2008 in the heart of the village of Mansonville, in the Township of Potton in the Eastern Townships, Nexkemia Petrochemicals Inc. is a manufacturing company that produces expandable polystyrene (EPS) beads. EPS beads are produced using two processes: reactor or extrusion. Nexkemia has been producing EPS beads by reactor since 2008, and the extrusion process was introduced in 2022. Nexkemia offers EPS beads with or without flame retardant, with or without recycled content, used for various types of packaging as well as insulation materials in the construction industry.
Nexkemia has a research and development team dedicated to creating new, innovative, and higher-performance products to meet market needs and requirements.
The needs of our U.S. and Canadian customers are met by a team of about one hundred dedicated and committed employees.
Position Summary The intern will be responsible for assisting members of the quality control team working in the quality control laboratory.
The intern will participate in release testing of current production as well as R&D products by performing standard analyses on expandable polystyrene beads for styrene and pentane by GC, molecular weight and coating by HPLC, sieving, moisture content, bromine, and graphite.
The intern will take part in the required analyses on raw materials as well as on densified and recycled polystyrene.
The intern will participate in the qualification of new raw materials by taking part in polymerization tests in a glass reactor.
The intern will also be involved in analyzing physical test results carried out on foams according to ASTM standards (flexion, compression, R-value, LOI, water absorption, and water vapor permeability).
