SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Superintendent, Waterfront Operations, the Ice Cream Shop Attendant provides friendly customer service, scoop and serve ice cream to customers of all ages. Prepare sundaes, milkshakes, cones and other treats.
GENERAL DUTIES
Greet customers and provide assistance in selecting ice cream flavours, toppings and other menu items.
Scoop ice cream and prepare sundaes, milkshakes, cones, and other treats.
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shop, including the serving counter, floorspace and outdoor seating area.
Restock supplies, including ice cream, toppings, cups, cones, napkins, and utensils, as needed.
Process transactions accurately, including credit/debit cards, and gift cards.
Answer customer questions about menu items, ingredients, allergens, and portion sizes.
Upsell additional items, such as waffle cones, extra toppings, or merchandise, to increase sales and enhance customer experience.
Monitor and maintain proper food safety and sanitation procedures, including storage temperatures, cleaning schedules, and hygiene practices.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient service and a positive work environment.
Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to major responsibilities of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in a customer service or food service role an asset.

Friendly and outgoing personality with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work in fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.

Attention to detail and cleanliness in food preparation and serving areas.
-
Working knowledge of cash handling and balancing.
-
Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
-
Must be a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.

Current and maintain Food Handler’s Certificate within 60 days of employment.
-Possess and maintain current certification in “Standard” First Aid with CPR Level “C” or be able to obtain within 60 days of employment. (This must be clearly identified on your resume.) All “Standard” First Aid certificates must be issued by a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB). Please refer to the WSIB website www.wsib.on.ca for approved providers. At time of assessment (which could be as early as days after the posting closes), you will be asked to provide “proof” that you possess the required certificate(s).
**HOURS:**0 - 24 per week
**NOTE:**As a condition of employment, the successful applicant(s) will be required to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (CRC) at their own expense, prior to beginning work in this location.
