Rainy River Mine Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

**Position:**Welder - Jouneyperson

**Schedule:**Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days/nights

**Position Reports To:**Mine Maintenance Welding Supervisor

Position Overview

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Welding Supervisor, the role of the Mobile Maintenance Welder, is to provide quality welding maintenance, repairs, fabrication, installation, and modifications for the mine fleet equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in safety programs and ensure that all safety standards for welding maintenance operations are achieved.

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies, procedures, and requirements, ensuring all work practices conform to applicable safety practices and are aligned with New Gold values, maintenance best practices and CWB/CSA codes.

• Assist in the professional development and mentoring of skills of the crew members with a special focus on apprentices.

• Ensure all welding equipment and tooling is operating effectively by following a regular maintenance program.

• Ensure minimal downtime in production schedules by repairing structures and equipment promptly and efficiently.

• Execute preventive maintenance activities such as inspections and failure analysis, and work towards reliability excellence.

• Convey concise, accurate cross over notes detailing work completed, work in-progress, and upcoming requirements for the next shift.

• Keep accurate maintenance and repair records, ensuring any changes to the fleet or equipment are accurately documented.

• Carryout necessary welding repairs for major component rebuilds, and field repairs as required.

• Ensure work order discipline requirements within SAP.

Qualifications

Education:

• Grade 12 diploma/GED.

• Valid Drivers’ License.

• Interprovincial Red Seal Welder, Interprovincial Red Seal Metal Fabricator (Fitter), or CWB certified all position SMAW and FCAW/MCAW Welder.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years experience in an industrial environment preferred.

• Mining experience, especially open pit preferred.

Other:

• Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.

• Possess a strong safety focus and exceptional safety record.

• Good oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

• Good computer skills with experience in Computer Maintenance Management software.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $120,000 to 125,000.
