Job Description

The Manager, Corporate Reporting supports the corporate reporting function for Tricon’s residential rental portfolios, with responsibility for key reporting deliverables, financial results review, close activities, and day-to-day guidance to team members.

The Manager, Corporate Reporting works closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial reporting. The Manager must have technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

As part of Tricon’s ongoing digital transformation, the incumbent contributes to process improvement by leveraging data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance financial insights.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to team members.
  • Identify opportunities to use data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the month-end close and reporting cycle.
  • Direct and review balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations for income-producing business segments.
  • Manage key components of the monthly internal reporting process, including review of monthly reporting packages.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements for private investors.
  • Assist with corporate financial statements and management reports.
  • Review analytical financial reports to support month-end variance analysis and identify areas requiring follow-up.
  • Research accounting matters and provide guidance on applicable accounting standards and industry practices.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure reported results are consistent with plans and provide variance analysis as required.
  • Support accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including oversight of assigned close deliverables and the monthly close calendar.
  • Assist with the annual audit process, including responding to audit inquiries, preparing or reviewing requested documentation, supporting internal controls testing, and preparing financial statements.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and quarterly reforecast.
  • Improve and automate reporting workbooks to enhance accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Review and approve journal entries, ensuring appropriate support, accuracy, and alignment with internal standards.
  • Support system and process improvements that enhance reporting quality, controls, and efficiency.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls across reporting, reconciliations, close, and financial statement processes.
  • Work with executive and senior management on special projects, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS accounting and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, audit support, and internal controls.
  • Ability to research accounting matters and provide practical guidance on accounting standards and industry practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support team members.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Collaborative and proactive working style, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, audit support, and internal controls.
  • 1-2+ years of experience leading, coaching, or providing day-to-day guidance to team members, either through direct people management or informal supervisory responsibility.
  • Interest in applying AI, automation, and process improvement tools to financial reporting processes.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Big 4 experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Knowledge of Yardi.
  • Residential real estate experience.

Work Schedule: This is a hybrid role, with a combination of in-office and remote work in accordance with company guidelines.

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.

$109,340.00 - $159,340.00
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company performance and individual contribution as well as an attractive benefit and wellness package.
