About the role
Responsibilities:
Safety
- Help with the creation of risk assessments/PPE requirements.
- Manage all safety reporting, i.e., training records, accident reports, investigation reports.
- Organize regular Safety Audits for compliance to OHS and internal requirements.
- Work closely with managers, and all employees to help enforce safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation and maintain pertaining documentation.
- Support root cause analysis, enter actions to 8D format, track actions and verify effectiveness.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
- Organize the training in skilled operations.
- Prepare and present required trainings.
Health
- Organize Industrial Health studies as needed.
- Schedule annual audiometric testing.
- Communicate health risks to employees.
- Oversee the environmental program (together with EH&S team).
- Verify compliance to local and federal regulations.
- Complete routine submissions to regulatory bodies for environmental reporting.
- Audit and report hazardous materials.
- Complete reports as necessary internally/externally.
Environmental
- Oversee the environmental program (together with EH&S team).
- Verify compliance to local, provincial and federal regulations.
- Complete routine submissions to regulatory bodies for environmental reporting.
- Audit and report hazardous materials.
- Complete reports as necessary internally/externally.
Quality
- Assist in the verification of incoming materials.
- Explain, implement and monitor the applicable regulations governing the transportation of dangerous goods (TC).
- Maintenance and testing of product design reports under the Transport Canada (TDG)/UN TP 14850 Standard.
- Communicates and investigates any customer inquiries as they relate back to quality. Works with Operations team to find solutions to customer complaints focusing on permanent corrective action. Visits customers as needed.
- Maintain Salesforce entries as applicable.
- Interacts with production floor and management to determine root cause analysis for quality defects and develops resolutions to correct deficiencies.
- Leads and facilitates monthly Quality Management Review meetings.
- Verify continuous compliance to ISO 9001.
- Create, review, and update Quality documents as required.
- Prepare for and serve as management representative for external audits, customer surveys and customer site audits. Audits, summarizes and reviews with plant management team the plant quality system.
- Implement Quality Control testing for product/process verification.
- Assist in 6s and lean manufacturing practices.
Other Duties
- Develop and assist in the accomplishment of KPI’s.
- Ensure that all Management reviews are conducted as required at site.
- Maintain working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Perform all other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of quality, safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing operation.
- Prior experience in industrial manufacturing (preferred).
- Solid understanding and overall program management of ISO 9001, OHS, Transport Canada regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading internal and external audits in safety and quality.
