About the role

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a driven and self-motivated professional to join Mainroad Alberta Contracting LP as a Human Resources Coordinator. In this role, you will support the continued growth of our Alberta operations. This is a full-time, 6-month term position based in Red Deer, Alberta, reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager.

We are seeking a proactive self-starter with experience in full-cycle recruitment and HRIS platforms such as UKG to support our Alberta and Interior British Columbia operating companies.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), or working towards designation, is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a human resources role, preferably in a construction or field-based environment, with a focus on full-cycle recruitment
  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as UKG or similar systems
  • Experience supporting HR functions within a complex, multi-operational organization
  • Ability to deliver HR services in a field-based environment supported by a centralized HR model
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with the Corporate HR Department
  • Professional, tactful, and highly regarded for interpersonal effectiveness
  • High level of ethics, integrity, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Strong communication skills, including business writing and presentations
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Alberta (Calgary to Vermilion)

As part of our dynamic HR team, you will act as an HR business partner to provide HR services, advice, support and direction to managers and employees. Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Talent Acquisition – Coordinate full-cycle recruitment services for Mainroad’s operating companies (ie. hiring requests, job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and employment offers and agreements)
  • Onboarding – Coordinate and support onboarding processes, particularly during mobilization of acquired operations
  • Employee Relations – Advise and support managers on employee relations matters, including coaching and discipline

Other areas of involvement may include:

  • Performance management
  • Leadership development initiatives
  • Employee engagement initiatives
  • Policy administration
  • Workforce planning
