REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT
HOURLY WAGE: $41.15 – $58.98
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the promotion of health and assessment, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative and therapeutic means to critically ill adults, children and infants in order that the client may return to, attain or maintain optimal function.
- This composite position has a dual reporting structure to both department Managers.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
- Ontario College of Nurses registration
- Current BCLS
- Current ACLS
- Current PALS or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Recent Critical Care experience within the last 5 years
- Recent Emergency room experience within that last 5 years
- Critical Care Certificate (CNA or College approved) or willingness to obtain within two years by taking part in established critical care unit ICU certification—currently through The Michener Institute
- Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to prioritize and remain calm during stressful, violent and crisis situations
- Excellent assessment and interviewing skills
- Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
- Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred:
- Coronary Care Certificate
- Community College Diploma in Emergency Nursing or ENC Certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
