Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Tax Credit Services, the Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper works as part of a team responsible for various accounting functions within the Incentives Department including general bookkeeping and accounting. This role will interact with EP’s client base of film and TV studios and independent producers, as well as with banks and government officials and agencies.
The Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper duties must be performed consistent with the Company’s mission and values and adhere to Company policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors the corporate year end of all EP-managed ProdCo’s to plan for and ensure all filing deadlines are met;
- Communicates with studio accountants, post-production accountants, government, and bank personnel to request and obtain all information needed to complete the necessary filings;
- Create G/Ls for numerous ProdCos using excel.
- Prepares bank reconciliations at each ProdCo’s year-end and all required journal entries.
- Prepares financial statements.
- Assisting the leading up to the dissolution of all ProdCo’s, by closing accounts such as bank accounts, GST accounts and filing all necessary documents
- Prepare and file ProdCos’ monthly GST/HST/QST returns
- Setup direct deposit for all current and new GST/HST/QST accounts
- Handles audits from government tax departments on GST/HST/QST accounts
- Handles CRA/RQ audits for tax credits filings.
- Assist in compiling back up for ProdCos’ external CPA firm tax credit audits
- Input and update data in EP project management database on a regular basis to ensure all information is recorded and monitored
- Assist with banking duties
- Other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Tax Incentives, or Client Services Supervisor
Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registered or intending to register in the CPA program
- Experience in accounting role
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Attention to details.
- Ability to multi-task/time-manage and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Working conditions
- The hours of work are 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Some overtime may be a requirement of this position.
- Conditions are normal for an office environment
