**The Opportunity:**Retail Store Clerk, National Meat Training Centre (temporary, part-time Thu/Fri/Sat)
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement Job Classification: Clerk I
Olds College is looking to hire a part-time, casual, Retail Store Clerk to support the National Meat Training Centre (NMTC). The NMTC is a one-of-a-kind program in North America that teaches a full range of meat cutting and slaughter skills. The program has graduated approximately five hundred students in its 45-years of operating, with many now playing a major role in the Canadian meat industry.
Key Job Functions:
- Interacting with customers; providing superior customer service
- Provide samples to customers to assist in sales
- Handle cash/debit and credit transactions
- Maintain a professional manner and act within the provincial and federal guidelines
- Maintain retail space appearance
- Operate and set up growler pour stations
- Maintain public health/sanitation and proactive health and safety standards
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Minimum one (1) year of applicable experience recommended.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- An understanding of computers and software systems
- Ability to work safely and in compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Outgoing personality with strong customer service skills and the ability to exceed customer expectations
- Self-directed with the ability to prioritize workload
- Aptitude to handle and reconcile cash float
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Requires valid ProServe certification
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require the individual to work flexible hours with a work schedule that is primarily weekdays with the occasional Saturday.
- May be required to do heavy lifting, repetitive physical work and work in adverse weather conditions.
- Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses.
- Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
