We have an opportunity for a Senior IT Systems Administrator role to join our IT Team.
As a Senior IT Systems Administrator, you will join a collaborative and forward-thinking team committed to creating positive impact across the organization. In this role, you will:
- Implement, maintain, and monitor a mix of Windows and Linux server systems in our onsite hybrid datacentre
o Failover Clusters, Hyper-V Replicas, Hybrid AD/Azure AD, VPN, and Remote Gateway servers
- Experience with hardware and software setup/configuration using ISO 270001 and CIS as baseline guidance for security
- Solid background in IT security operations
- Apply, test, and verify critical firmware and security patches
- Support backup and disaster recovery procedures including regular restoration testing
- Assist with documentation to update and maintain our system/network designs/architecture and other tech related corporate policies
- Support/troubleshoot/setup from scratch a mix of Cisco, Sonicwall, and Fortinet enterprise level network devices
o Includes (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPN Tunnels)

Work with our incident response team to ensure server/endpoint protection

React to and investigate Endpoint/Server security/performance alerts

Read Scan AD/EntraID logs (React to suspicious activity)

Deploy and administer iSCSI or Network attached Storage Area Networks.

Monitor infrastructure performance to both react and proactively identify issues
-
Create and audit new and existing monitors as hardware and performance requirements change.

Respond to critical notifications or direct them to their corresponding teams o Be available on rotation to provide support after hours on a 24/7 basis and manage alerts appropriately

Monitor Server/Network Performance including statistics of systems usage, systems outages, end user requests, etc

Intermediate scripting skills with Powershell and Bash

Experience with user/server administration through scripting

Experience with Terraform and IaC

Provide Tier 2/3 internal support (Head office, Global employees, and Digital Publishing partners)

Take ownership of technical issues and educate employees on good technical habits and computer behaviour

Install, configure, and repair new and existing enterprise client workstations, servers, hardware, and their corresponding software as per standard operating procedures.

You are a great fit if you have:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator managing production environments
- Proven experience supporting systems where uptime, security, and data integrity are critical
- Strong expertise in hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud infrastructure)
- Proficiency with hybrid environments such as Active Directory and EntraID (on-prem and cloud-based)
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems
- Solid understanding of network infrastructure and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Hands-on experience with security practices (MFA, patching, endpoint protection, access control)
- Working knowledge of security tools (firewalls, antivirus, antispam, system hardening)
- Experience with IT service management processes (incident, change, and configuration management)
- Scripting experience (PowerShell and/or Bash) for automation and system administration
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively, collaborate with diverse teams, and handle high-pressure or ambiguous situations
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, staying current with emerging technologies, and adapting to evolving environments
Bonus points if you:
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Have experience participating in audits or working with security/compliance teams
- Experience leading projects, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, or acting as a technical lead
- Have a strong interest in the technology sector

PressReader is committed to providing a fair compensation package which includes a 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision benefit plan; 15 paid vacation days to start; health and wellness days and bereavement days; reimbursements for professional training and membership in professional associations; fitness subsidy and more, along with a chance to be working with amazing people. The pay range for this role is $75,000 to $88,000, depending on experience.
