We are currently seeking applications for our Transit & Rail Team Lead (British Columbia) who will help us grow our team, support business development, encourage innovation and drive quality and efficiency throughout our business.
Your Opportunity
Our Transit & Rail Team Lead (British Columbia) is one of several discipline specific Team Leads within Stantec’s Transportation Leadership Team in British Columbia. This is an exciting opportunity to bring forward new ideas, grow our team and build on our Stantec goals of excellence, innovation, and people.
You will be empowered to grow and lead a team of technical experts and will ultimately be responsible for the performance and success of our Transit & Rail Team.
This opportunity is ideal for a motivated individual who is a self-starter, passionate about working with people and has a thorough understanding of the transit and rail sectors.
This position will report directly to the Practice Leader for Transit & Rail (British Columbia) and will work closely with other Leaders within the transportation sector.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Project management of infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity.
- Proactively look for ways to improve design delivery, quality, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key clients.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, standards and thought leadership.
- Promote our strong safety culture, ensuring this is at the forefront of our business and lead by example.
Marketing & Business Development
- Build on Stantec’s current momentum and experience so we continue to be seen as experts in the transit and rail industry.
- Proactively position and successfully lead new project pursuits within British Columbia and support strategic pursuits across Western Canada.
- Support additional marketing and business development efforts as needed.
Team Leadership
- Build on award winning project experience to develop an unrivaled team. Look for and pursue growth opportunities in line with our business objectives.
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers, project managers and technical staff to ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Responsible for workforce planning, training and project resourcing for the British Columbia Transit & Rail Team.
- Work closely with the Transportation Leadership Team in British Columbia and the Transit & Rail Sector to support business planning and management and ensure corporate requirements are met.
- Recruit talent, grow team members, enable professional development, and support succession planning.
- Facilitate goal setting, coaching, and performance reviews with each of your team members.
- Track and drive team performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven project management skills delivering a wide range of projects, including large and complex infrastructure projects.
- Exemplary communication and strong people skills are a must.
- Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical staff, while supporting individuals’ professional development and career growth.
- Collaborative - works well in a team environment and engages in creative and critical thought.
- Business development and marketing skills are considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized post-secondary institute.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with APEGA or ability to be licensed within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.
This position is full-time and will primarily work in an office setting with opportunities for a hybrid work environment. Some field work and travel are required.
Pay Range
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $128,800.00 - Max Salary $193,100.00
