The Sr Manager, Franchising, Tim Hortons, Canada is responsible for leading all processes related to the franchisee lifecycle. From recruiting, changeovers, invoicing, and system performance measurement, this role is responsible for ensuring we have the best franchisees in QSR supported by streamlined processes. Reporting to the Sr Director of Franchising & Operations Analytics, Tim Hortons, Canada, this position works directly with our external banking partners to manage our partnered financing programs, and internally with the Field Operations, Operations Training, Finance and Communications teams to ensure our franchising processes are structured to set Tim Hortons owners for success in every stage of their franchising journey.
RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week out of our Toronto, ON office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of seven, comprised of two direct reports with supporting teams across franchising (recruitment, valuations, changeovers) and franchisee support (invoicing and bad debt)
- Lead franchisee transaction meetings to align on recommended candidates for growth opportunities
- Report regularly to brand leadership on franchising progress, including pre-post changeover results, franchising strategy, and the outcomes of high-priority initiatives
- Maintain streamlined and error-free processes across the issuance of new license agreements, execution of changeovers between franchisees, set-up of new owners, and collection of accounts receivable
- Manage system financial risk through development of proactive bad debt management tools, establishing payment plans, and working with franchisee profitability on high-risk account management
- Partner with field team to problem solve unique franchisee issues including financing challenges, share structures, and changeover execution
- Make recommendations for escalation of franchising matters, including defaults and brand protection notices; liaise with legal on drafting of such notices
- Lead market planning to identify areas requiring recruitment efforts and those regions requiring succession planning
- Oversee changeover process including end-to-end sale process and valuations of each restaurant
- Develop and execute on the national recruiting strategy to attract high-quality franchisee candidates:
- Implementing and executing strategic initiatives to increase the quantity of highly-qualified applicants.
- Driving new initiatives to attract franchisees in areas of high need
- Maintain franchising website and update content from time-to-time
- Develop and execute strategy for the owner recognition program
- Manage components within the Performance & Expandability (P&E) model, the internal franchisee success system used to evaluate franchisee performance and drive growth decisions
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field with 4-6 years’ experience finance or business development role
- Comfort in interpreting a complete set of financial statements and building cash flow models and forecasts to support decision making and risk management strategies
- Previous experience working with a franchised business is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system & a proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including: Franchising Organizations, Field Operations, Operations Training, and Communications.
- Strong communication skills to read, listen, understand, and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing.
- Exceptional organizational abilities, time management, project management and interpersonal skills
- Restaurant industry and/or franchising knowledge an asset.

Base salary range of $135,000– $160,000 CAD. Base salary for this position may vary based on relevant factors such as experience, education, location, and skills. This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual discretionary bonus plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the incentive program, based on individual and company performance metrics. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation in the form of equity grants pursuant to the Company’s long-term incentive plan.
