We are seeking a CPA Manager to join our talented team. The successful candidate will reflect our firm’s core values while providing high level managerial support to all members of our team as well as our clients and be able to understand complex accounting and tax concepts and enjoy being a technical resource for clients and the firm. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the partners.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of clients primarily consisting of private companies, owner-managed businesses, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals
Work with partners to help implement tailored tax planning strategies, including financial planning, corporate reorganizations, estate freezes, succession planning, and trust structuring
Help identify opportunities for tax planning and work with partners and clients to align tax strategies with broader financial and family goals
Review corporate, personal, and trust tax returns; ensure quality control and compliance with current tax legislation
Review year-end compilation engagements; ensure compliance with system of quality management (SoQM) and CSRS 4200
Support clients with CRA reviews, review tax election forms, and other supplemental tax filings
Collaborate with internal and external professionals to deliver integrated solutions Act as a main point of contact for clients, building long-term, trusted relationships
Mentor junior team members through training, coaching, and formal review processes
Stay up to date on changes in Canadian tax law and regulatory developments affecting private entities and individuals
Job Requirements
Canadian CPA designation
Registration in In-Depth Tax Course is highly valued but not required
Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in Canadian public practice, with a focus on compilations, tax compliance, and tax planning for private corporations and high-net-worth individuals
Strong technical knowledge in Canadian corporate and personal tax, with some exposure to trust and estate planning, and corporate reorganizations
Experience with closely held business groups, investment holding companies, and some exposure to intergenerational wealth planning
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex information clearly to clients
Proven leadership and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Familiarity with Caseware, Taxprep, and cloud-based platforms is an asset
Job Type & Location:
Full-time (Monday to Friday), on-site with flexibility to work from home on Fridays
Victoria, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
