Duration Approximately Six (6) Months
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required, consideration will be given to candidates with diploma in Recreation Therapy with relevant and current related experience
-
2-4 years recent experience (within the last 2-3 years) in hospital/institutional setting required
-
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certification required (recent within the last twelve months)
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health team required
-
Recent experience (within the last 2-3 years) in an Acute/Rehab setting
-
Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, implement and evaluate therapeutic recreation and leisure programs designed to meet the clinical needs of patients by focusing on development/acquisition of leisure related skills and attitudes required
-
Experience adapting therapy for clients with disabilities / impairments required
-
Must be able to work independently, organize daily activities, and be flexible and resourceful
-
Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive patient assessments required
-
Ability to facilitate group and individual programming that is constructive and enjoyable for a broad range of patient ages and ability
-
Physical ability to transfer and assist patients with physical impairments required
-
Computer skills/knowledge required
-
Good attendance and work record required

Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
