About the role
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the daily operation of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), reliability program by utilizing the Asset Management module in D365.
This position will develop and manage a CMMS work-order-based, preventative and predictive maintenance system for work assignments and will measure work progress, completion & report against reliability KPI standards.
This position will be responsible for Maintenance & Repair (M&R) purchasing, parts inventory management, asset life cycle management, and optimization of CMMS maintenance programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance Planning
- Configure the CMMS maintenance program, including schedules, protocols, and procedures to optimize the performance of assets and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, Safety).
- Support the data entry of all maintenance consumables into the d365 environment.
- Develop and manage the work-order-based preventative and predictive maintenance system for the Maintenance department work assignments and implement parts consumption as part of the process.
- Report on reliability performance by establishing KPI’s for asset reliability measurement, reporting and corrective action work-orders.
- Coordinate with production teams to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to operations.
Asset Lifecycle Planning
- Configure asset management strategies within the CMMS to optimize the lifecycle of equipment and infrastructure based on equipment OEM and vendor recommendations.
- Schedule regular assessments of asset condition, performance, and depreciation to support maintenance and capital planning & decisions.
- Optimize the CMMS to ensure the timely and accurate completion of work orders and inventory, maintaining precise metrics.
- Support long-term asset replacement plans and budget forecasts to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of critical assets.
M&R Purchasing & Parts Inventory
- Responsible CMMS purchase request and auto-order configuration to optimize inventory levels.
- Responsible for identifying suppliers, obtaining multiple quotes to ensure competitive pricing, maintaining relationships with suppliers, developing contingency plans, and ensuring adherence to the company purchasing policy.
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards, cost-effectiveness, vendor and supplier selection, and compliance with organizational protocols.
- Oversee and optimize parts inventory, conducting scheduled cycle counts of spare parts and maintenance consumables.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards.
- Aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
- Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering field OR equivalent work experience.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Certifications in Maintenance Management – Certified Maintenance Management Professional (MMP)
– Project Management Professional (PMP)
– Continuous Improvements, Six Sigma - Greenbelt certification
Required:
- Inter-Provincial Trades Certificate (Red Seal Certification).
- 5+ years of maintenance planning role in an industrial manufacturing environment, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable track record of improving maintenance efficiency and cost reduction.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial equipment, automation, and maintenance best practices.
- Proficiency in using data analytics to predict equipment failures and optimize maintenance schedule.
- Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
- Knowledge or Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methodologies (Lean, 5S).
