About the role
As Team Leader, Business Operational Risk, your role is to support Julie Veillette, Manager, Non-Financial Business Risks, by providing diligent, structured and effective leadership to a team of 12 experienced professionals to ensure optimal planning and ongoing monitoring of mandates. Your active leadership, ability to foster engagement and agility in dealing with change will enable you to create an engaging work environment that is focused on collaboration, innovation and operational excellence. Your role also consists of ensuring Business operational risk governance by actively supporting the business lines in understanding these risks in a proactive, comprehensive and integrated manner. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of operational risk and the ability to coordinate multiple files simultaneously. You will interact with a very large number of stakeholders working in a wide range of fields. Your contribution will help us make the best decisions for our members and clients and foster sustainable growth that is aligned with Desjardins’s risk appetite. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Meet targets on time and on budget and manage results, performance, quality and client/partner satisfaction
- Participate in the hiring, performance management and skills development of employees
- Consolidate the management of our risk and controls, test their effectiveness and ensure action plans are implemented if targets aren’t met as part of end-to-end operational risk management
- Continuously monitor the portfolio and market, as well as the application of operational risk governance documents; analyze causes and anticipate the impacts of changes and risks incurred; and communicate them to our partners so that we can take appropriate actions for sound growth
- Address and communicate changes in a constructive and motivating manner
- Promote teamwork and ensure alignment with risk partners in the first, second and third lines of defence
- Ensure monitoring of market trends and changes in the external environment that could affect operational risk management in your sector
- Know the inner workings of your profession, business sector, best practices and sector approaches

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including at least three years in a team management, coordination or supervision role
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Experience in operational risk
- Experience writing at the executive level
- Knowledge of French is required
- Knowledge of the banking sector
