Who We Are
Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.
The Ceremonies and Events Office (C&E) advances Simon Fraser University's strategic vision of engagement by producing and managing key university celebrations and milestone events including convocation and the university's high-profile presidential, institutional, advancement, alumni, ceremonial, government and partner events. Delivering approximately 70 events annually, locally, nationally and internationally, the department also ensures that ceremony and event protocols and traditions are maintained at events.
About the Role
The Ceremonies and Events Coordinator provides oversight and support to the Ceremonies and Events (C&E) department’s events management and engagement efforts, taking place locally and globally. The role is responsible for the execution and day-to-day event management of many of SFU’s highest profile events and for project management of other ad hoc event-related projects. The role participates in on-going events planning, event strategy, communication and stewardship of event partners and guests (including donors, alumni, dignitaries and SFU senior leadership). The role plans and oversees a variety of events for numerous partners across the university, along with providing programming and other supports for the development and implementation of new departmental event initiatives that advance the priorities of the SFU’s strategic plan.
