Edelman is seeking a talented, strategic and highly-organized project director to complement our Toronto office. You are looking for an opportunity to build processes and best practices right from the start, and to work with client strategists and fellow specialty experts along with senior leadership to further develop and grow project management as a core competency within the Edelman team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to client strategy lead(s), fostering seamless account team and specialty integration, project planning, program delivery and client service excellence and growth.
- Contribute to the growth of the specialty in Canada, partnering with other members of the project management team to create, instill and reinforce national best practices and serve as a role model to junior team members.
- Proactively manage project planning efforts for multiple medium to large scaled projects including scoping, budget estimating, cross-functional team integration, task definition and deliverable milestones.
- Deliver assigned projects on schedule, within scope and budget, and effectively manage forecasting and financial profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve and/or establish tighter integration and effective operational processes, and proactively identify, mitigate and/or escalate potential risks that may impact the client or Edelman.
- Lead proposal efforts and help to define integrated client solutions with measurable results.
- Work in partnership with the client strategy lead(s) to identify new growth opportunities and resource new projects, ensuring the right skills are matched to the task at hand.
- Work with project team to understand and manage expectations of both internal and external clients at the project level and communicate potential variances to client strategy lead(s) and/or senior executives in timely fashion.
- Work with client strategy lead(s) and specialty lead(s)/team members to prioritize and reconcile competing demands (resourcing, budgeting, etc.) to meet Edelman and client business needs.
- Attend client kick off and status meetings, actively participate in planning and scoping sessions, and lead budgeting and forecasting meetings, ensuring agenda, meeting objectives and recap documentation standards are met.
- Demonstrate creativity and conceptual thinking on client programs and projects.
Basic Qualifications
- 8-10 years+ of project management experience; ideally within a digital, communications, marketing or advertising agency.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development (mentorship) experience within cross functional team environment.
- Experience in client service and demonstrated ability to address client concerns thoughtfully and effectively.
- Successful track record of managing large projects from definition to implementation, including management of complex budgets and adaptability to budgeting software.
- Demonstrated experience developing and deploying creative and innovative approaches to problem solving.
- Prior knowledge working with waterfall and agile methodologies preferred.
