About the role
Reporting to Head of Reporting, the Analyst is responsible for reporting regular and ad hoc performance of general fund assets, with a focus on fixed income portfolios, under the liability-driven, spread-based performance measurement methodology. The Analyst will provide business requirements and subject matter expertise where needed. The candidate will also leverage tools to enhance analysis and improve processes. Downstream reporting & analysis performed for Senior Management, Portfolio Managers and Investments Front Office.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular and ad hoc historical performance reporting and analysis for all General Fund Investment assets, including attribution factor analysis for Asian, Canada and U.S. investment desks
- Work with the various investment desks to review, analyze and report on the performance of non-fixed income assets (e.g. Timber & Agriculture, Real Estate, Private Equity & Mezzanine, Oil & Gas).
- Produce key performance reports: Quarterly Investment Performance Package, Global and Divisional ALCO Performance Dashboard & Board reports, monthly performance attribution
- Support the quarterly calculation of Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) performance scores for investment desk heads and the Investment Controllers Group.
- Provide analytical support on new initiatives (e.g. developing spread methodology for new territories/investment strategies, formulate implementation plan for new performance measurement initiatives or new investment mandates etc.).
- Maintain efficient communication channels with the Front Office and Investment Finance Group. Strong communication ensures the timely and effective resolution of issues, changing priorities, future and current projects, ad-hoc requests or underlying methodology disclosures. \
- Leverage new tools and technology (AI, PowerBI, CoPilot etc.) to provide advanced analytics and improved processes
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline combined with strong investment industry experience.
- Over two years' relevant experience and sound knowledge of fixed income, equity and money market instruments.
- Understanding of investment markets, benchmarks, drivers of performance and liability driven performance measurement
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
- Highly developed computer skills with the aptitude to learning new systems.
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in PowerBI, MS Excel, MS Access, Visual Basic, Python and SQL.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis (notably regression methods).
- Enrolled in or completion of Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between
$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CAD
