Direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of a warehouse and contract packaging operation which includes supervision of the staff, receiving, storage, co-pack, distribution, systems administration, inventory control, sanitation and maintenance and Customer Service. Responsible for the overall strategic design and direction of the warehousing and contact packaging operations, Customer Service and Client Relationships and ensure the training of employees, setting of performance goals, organization of work, and maintenance of a productive and participatory environment.
Responsibilities
- Interact regularly and communicate proactively both internally and externally, to resolve process and operations issues promptly, optimize results, and create successful collaborative environment.
- Provides a single point of contact for customer communications and becomes the coordinator for all information in terms of activity and act as our organization’s representative.
- Understand and Identify escalation points within customer resolution.
- Establishes budgets for the facility and implements controls necessary to keep expenditures within budgetary limitations.
- Liaise with the Finance Team for monthly Customer reconciliation and internal budgets.
- Provide cross-functional team leadership in achieving KPI’s related to Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery and Cost while providing analysis, reporting and recommendations on a timely basis
- Responsible for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and presentations on activities, cost, and issues.
- Participates in development of capital spending budgets for operations facilities and equipment, and ensure projects are completed in accordance with the budget.
- Review, analyze and prepare reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers/supervisors to obtain data required for manufacturing planning activities.
- Supports operations utilizing Warehouse Management System (WMS)/PackManager System and related operating/information systems to improve productivity, streamline distribution processes, and achieve operating performance objectives.
- Develop and lead management staff by active coaching and training while cultivating a collaborative team culture, creative problem solving, and results driven operations.
- Provides leadership to facility staff by hiring, training, developing and scheduling competent staff.
- Will ensure that employees are trained as necessary. This includes cross-training to ensure efficient skill levels, soft skills training and certification in accordance with company guidelines and government regulations.
- Oversee and maintain procedures for ensuring managers and supervisors have appropriate practices and controls in place to ensure a safe and secure workplace for employees in conjunction with the health and safety and human resources departments.
- Work with the team to establish manufacturing and operational standards for cost control and waste reduction, oversee the design, development, communication and implement manufacturing best practices.
- Demonstrate foresight and vision in identifying opportunities for expansion and improvement of scalable Co-Pack Operations.
- Oversees operations, while ensuring established procedures are being followed according to company standards to effectively meet/exceed customer requirements.
- Develops and following approval, implements changes to operational systems to improve the flow in customer service, order management and shipping and receiving of customer products on time and undamaged.
- Reviews forecasts, inventory reports, sales order reports, and other available material and devises plans to meet fluctuations in warehousing operation.
- Develop plans that provide for adequate, cost-effective capacity to support company growth and customer volume.
- Develops short-term and long-term functional operating plans (goals, objectives, action plans, and budgets).
- Implementing improved manufacturing processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.
- Manage process changes, enhancements, and modifications to facilitate implementation of new or improved business practices.
- Communicate to department heads of such changes and modifications using appropriate communication tools.
- Ensure that environmental programs are in place and managed effectively through practices and controls.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in assembly/manufacturing.
- 5 – 7 years of experience with advanced manufacturing automation.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in contract packing / manufacturing (assembly of PP displays and secondary packaging).
- 5 – 7 years of experience in assembly/production of food projects.
- 5 – 7 years of experience with installation and maintenance of automated production equipment.
- 5 – 7 years of experience of practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- 5 – 7 years of experience of designing techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- 5 – 7 years of experience with Strong Pak Manager and Red Prairie WMS and labor functional and technical knowledge
- 5-7 years distribution experience (some of which in a 3PL environment)
