Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter – Field Lead Fraser Valley Fire Protection Ltd. | Abbotsford, BC | Full-Time | $40-$50/hr
Fraser Valley Fire Protection has been keeping British Columbia safe since 1977. We're a full-service fire and life safety company — sprinkler systems, fire alarms, backflow preventers, kitchen suppression, emergency lighting, hydrants, monitoring, and more. We take our work seriously, and we're looking for someone who does too.W e're growing, and we need a seasoned Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter ready to take on a field leadership role.
About the Role This is a working supervisor position. You'll be in the field doing the work — inspections, installations, troubleshooting — while also leading, developing, and coordinating a team of sprinkler fitters and backflow technicians. You'll report to the Service Manager and work closely with on-staff electricians to keep jobs moving and people supported.
What You'll Do Field Work Install, inspect, test, service, and modify wet, dry, pre-action, CO2, water mist, and wet/dry chemical suppression systems Troubleshoot systems that aren't performing correctly and complete applicable repairs Complete new system installations in new builds and retrofits Ensure all work meets NFPA standards and BC Building Code requirements
Leadership & Coordination Provide regular feedback to sprinkler fitters and backflow technicians through scheduled one-on-ones, performance appraisals, and incident-based conversations Mentor journeyman sprinkler fitters and apprentices — and support hiring and recruitment of new apprentices Work closely with on-staff electricians and the Service Manager to coordinate work, schedules, and logistics Champion company initiatives and a strong safety culture across your team
What You Bring Required Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter certification (BC) Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a certified Sprinkler Fitter or Sprinkler System Installer Working knowledge of NFPA standards and BC Building Code Valid BC Driver's License with a clean 5-year driver's abstract Demonstrated ability to lead a team and give direct, constructive feedback Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail Professional, customer-focused approach — you represent us on every job site Assets That Will Make You Stand Out
ASTTBC RFPT certificationBCWWA BCWWA Backflow Certification Supervisory experience Formal or informal coursework in supervision, business, or management.
Details Hours: Monday–Friday; overtime and on-call as required; overtime paid in accordance with BC Employment Standards
Location: Based out of Abbotsford; service area runs Chilliwack to Surrey with projects from Hope to WhistlerPay:
