About the Role The Supervisor, Personal Support Worker reports to the Director of Nursing and Personal Care (DONPC) and provides daily supervision of Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Resident Care Assistant (RCA) staff. This role is responsible for the supervision, guidance, counselling, hiring, mentoring and ongoing performance development of all PSW and RCA staff within the designated Home.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Supervision of PSW and RCA:

In adherence to the Fixing Long-Term Care Act (2021) and PSW scope of practice, supervises PSW and RCA performance of resident care, services and resources required to deliver quality Elder-centred, Elder-directed care

Supervises day to day PSW and RCA care; meets regularly with the care givers and care team members
-
Collaborates with DONPC and other members of the leadership team to obtain feedback on the specifics or irregularities in Elder care needs
-
Participates in the review of policies and procedures
-
Participates in Quality Improvements and Risk Management activities
-
Reviews workload with care teams to determine efficient use of resources; recommends changes/additions to DONPC and Administrator
-
Meets regularly with PSWs and RCAs, communicating changes, education, mentoring and expectations
-
Participates in the investigation of resident care concerns and complaints
-
Ensures adherence to all policies, procedures and practices, including those related to Safety and Risk Management
-
Ensures adherence to all safety and risk management practices, including follow up of employee incidents to ensure corrective action
-
Participates with internal committees as required
-
Monitoring accuracy and completion of electronic documentation by PSWs
-
Performs other related duties as required
Human Resources Management:
-
Provides supervision, guidance, counselling and input in performance management of PSW and RCA staff
-
Establishes good labour relations through knowledge, interpretation and implementation of policies and union contracts
-
Participates in the recruitment, selection and orientation of PSW/RCA staff and students
-
Approves/declines vacation requested and PSW/RCA leaves
-
Participates in union/management activities
-
Counsels PSWs/RCAs on attendance management
-
Ensures mandatory education is completed by PSWs and RCAs
General:

Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed

Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Working knowledge of Point Click Care and Point of Care Documentation

Demonstrated computer/technological skills
-
Previous supervisory experience preferred
