About the role

This role is open to candidates located in Toronto or Ottawa.

Remote work arrangements may be available for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis candidates who reside within their communities.

Contract Duration :

May-August 2026 (4 months)

The successful candidate will support CIHI’s priorities related to Indigenous Health, including planning events, engaging with First Nations, Inuit and Métis partners, scanning and synthesizing information, preparing materials, and supporting analyses.

What you'll do

  1. Work as part of a larger team, contributing to existing work and projects as requested

  2. Build relationships within the Indigenous Health team and across the organization

  3. Participate in a variety of meetings with internal and external colleagues and partners

  4. Learn about CIHI’s approach to contributing to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health data priorities and respecting principles of their data sovereignty

  5. Contribute to project and meeting planning and develop materials for engagement with First Nation, Inuit, and Métis and non- First Nation, Inuit, and Métis partners (e.g., slide decks, short texts)

  6. Scan, summarize, and synthesize research and policy literature/environments for relevant First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health information and/or analyze data

  7. Support projects in collaboration with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations

  8. Support activities and events related to cultural safety and humility (e.g., cultural safety measurement project)

  9. Support the development of reports and other products, such as website updates, materials for engagements/conferences/workshops, fact checking, and product testing (e.g., education and training products)

What you'll bring to the table

  1. Must be registered in a Master’s level program

  2. Experience conducting literature searches and reviews, and writing short texts for different audiences (public or professional)

  3. Experience working in First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health research, sociology, population health or a related area. Experience with data analysis is an asset

  4. Knowledge of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health and social issues and social/political context

  5. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision

  6. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  7. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

  8. Fluency in both English and French is an asset

Remote work arrangements may be available for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis candidates who reside within their communities. Preference will be given to those who self-identify as First Nation, Inuit, and Métis.
